"Vince Martinez opened a deep gash in the corner of Ralph Dupas' right eye in the 3rd round and the wound harrassed him the rest of the bout. But Martinez failed to capitalise on the injury and allowed the 21 year old Dupas to regain his composure in the middle rounds. The quicker Dupas continually beat Martinez to the punch, with most of the attack centering on Martinez' mid-section. Both dished out punishment and each took some good shots in return. But Dupas' aggressiveness and cat-like reflexes paid off in swinging the nod over the New Jersey native." -Associated Press
