"Ralph Dupas, ranking lightweight contender aiming for a title bout with lightweight champion Joe Brown in Houston on May 7th, slammed his way to a unanimous decision last night over Ramon Fuentes of Los Angeles in a scheduled 10 round bout. Fuentes, a welter, came out strong in the first few rounds, and opened a cut over Dupas' left eye in the 2nd. The blood seemed to bother Dupas until his seconds stopped the flow after the round. Dupas shook Fuentes repeatedly with a sharp right cross. His best rounds were the 4th and 5th, when he scored heavily with both hands. Dupas savagely pressed the fight, rocking Fuentes with solid flurries in both the 9th and 10th rounds." -United Press
- Judge Eddie Wolfe's scorecard was actually 9-0-1 in favor of Dupas.
