"Earlier, welterweight contender Ralph Dupas easily bested Frankie Ramirez of Los Angeles in the curtain raiser on the card, scoring a unanimous 10-round decision. Dupas, 148 1/2, New Orleans, proved too fast for his less experienced opponent. Ramirez, 146 1/2, fought Dupas on even terms for the first five rounds but his rival picked up the pace then, scoring heavily with left hooks and short chopping rights to the head. The victory was the 94th for Dupas against 16 losses. There were no knockdowns." -United Press International
