- Date: 1967-02-01
- Location: Festhalle, Frankfurt, Hessen, Germany
- Referee: Kurt Polfer
Olli Maeki of Finland and Conny Rudhoff of Germany fought for Willy Quator's vacant EBU light welterweight title. Both had held European titles a few years back. This was their 3rd meeting, Maeki had beat Rudhoff for this title in 1964.
Maeki (63 kg) started very fast with his infighting style with hooks. He held a tight guard, yet Rudhoff's excellent left jab and series of left jabs started to slip through and tire the Finn. Rudhoff (62kg) also fought on the inside, but ulike Maeki he didn't stay there. He leaped in with hooks and made quick retreats. Maeki made a rally in the 9th and 10th, but by the 11th he rested wearily on the ropes, and now had trouble with protecting his body well. In the 15th Rudhoff was in total command and could hit the Finn with hard rights without being countered.
