"Bobby Dykes scored a unanimous 10-round decision last night over GI Joe Miceli of New York at Eastern Parkway Arena. Miceli found too much dynamite in the long jabs and right crosses thrown at him by the Miami stringbean. Dykes had too much ring savvy for the aggressive Miceli. Dykes almost completely dominated the point-scoring from the 2nd through the 7th round, puffing up Miceli's eye and keeping the new Yorker at bay with a prolific jab-cross attack. Miceli rallied in the 8th and bloodied Dyke's nose. He staggered Bobby in the 10th with a hard left to the jaw, but Dykes maneuvered his way out of further trouble." -International News Service

• It was reported that there were no knockdowns but that Dykes did fall to the canvas in the opening seconds of the 1st round while avoiding a wild left from Miceli.
• Miceli reported back to Camp Kilmer the following day, having taken this bout while on a 21-day furlough from the Army.
