In the first round Oganov scored a knockdown with a glancing blow to the top of the head when Referee Jeff Macaluso determined that the ropes had held Zuniga up. A clash of heads in the 5th round caused blood to trickle from a cut over Oganov's right eye. Zuniga also had a cut over his right eye by that round. Oganov was knocked down for the first time in his career with a left hook in the 9th round, received the mandatory eight-count, then was immediately pummeled with a half dozen clean punches against the ropes before Macaluso stopped the bout at 1:25 to protect the boxer from further punishment.
