But Summary

Matsuda opened a bad cut above Lopez's left eye in round five. In the eighth round, an accidental headbut made Lopez's cut worse. At the end of round eight, the ringside doctor stopped the bout. After the bout was stopped, Lopez got upset and threw a right hand to Matsuda's face, who was unaware celebrating his victory.

Comments

The original decision of a TKO win in favour of Matsuda was voided by the Benito Juarez comision de Box Profesional December 17th, one working day after the fight. Although Lopez was cut from a punch in the fifth round a clash of heads in the eighth round was thought to have significantly worsened his injury.
