"Guty Espadas of Mexico retained his world flyweight title Saturday night with a 13th round TKO over Panamanian challenger Alfonso Lopez. Espadas, making his second defense of the WBA title he won from Lopez in Los Angeles last October, pinned the Panamanian against the ropes halfway through the 13th round. Fighting before his home crowd, Espadas hit Lopez with both hands for about 10 seconds before the referee stepped in and stopped the fight. The fight could have ended one round before. Lopez dominated every minute of the 12th round and Espadas looked spent." -United Press International
