Bout Summary
An ugly inside war fought at center ring, with most rounds won by Davis throwing left hand jabs to the head with some occasional left right combinations. Barnes, with a shorter height and reach, attempted to land a few body shots then hold wherever possible, but could not overcome the size advantage held by Davis. Davis' punches lacked power and he was not throwing power shots. Barnes managed to survive all eight rounds by making this a bout of short punches fought at extremely close quarters while preventing his superior foe from gaining the distance between fighters required to land shots of major consequence. Barnes did a bit better with some body work in the eighth round, with a frustrated Davis trying to throw some thunder but unable to put his opponent away. At the time of this bout, Davis, inactive for ten months, took the bout on less than three days notice.
