Perennial Bantamweight Vorapin, who was also stopped by Penalosa in a Manila Super Flyweight bout in November 2000, has never won a bout in the Philippines. It was Vorapin's second unsuccessful attempt to regain the WBO bantamweight title he won from Cruz Carbajal in Phuket, Thailand, in May 2004.
