The Korean champion Cho-Rong Son's manager called for the doctor just prior to her coming out for the fifth round and the doctor seemed to be coerced to stop the bout. After this the ring announcer strangely refused to announce the judges scorecards, and so the referee made the announcement over the speakers to the crowd that the fight had been stopped on advice from the doctor at ringside. All three judges gave it to the Korean in what could only be called a controversial Technical Decision. Korean television showed that Gretchen Abaniel was battering the so called champ so hard from round one that by round four Cho-Rong Son could hardly see out of her left eye.
