Sparring at a Club's Entertainment.--The Avon Club, at the northwest corner of Baltimore street and Central avenue, gave a smoker and entertainment at its clubhouse last night. The committee in charge were H. R. Lauderman, Charles H. Collins, James E. Griggs, Benkamin F. Row, James Curran, George W. Mann and Charles Storch. The following took part in the musical and literary part of the programme: D. J. Williamson, James Drury, George Horst, John Healy, the Harlem and Columbia Quartettes, John Johns and John U. Jones. Sparring exhibitions were given by John McCarthy and Dl. Williams, 140-pound men, Wm. Clisham and John Bayley, 130-poundmen, and Joseph Gant and Buck Myers, colored.
