Joe Gans drew with Dave Horn by PTS in round 10 of 10

  • Gans and Horn Draw.

Joseph Gans, the colored light-weight champion of the South, fought David Horn to a ten-round draw last night at the Monumental tournament-room. The set-to was one of the best yet given at the Monumental, every round being an exhibition of skill. Gans is a shade cleverer than Horn, but the latter can hit harder.

The feature of the fight was the rattling mix-up finish of the second round. In the fourth round Horn began to get slow and in the sixth he looked to be getting weak. In the seventh he came up surprisingly strong, and from then until the finish the honors were easy.

Before the Gans-Horn set-to Harry Hunt, of Baltimore, and Jack Bangs, of California, sparred two rounds at a furious pace. Bangs, according to his way of looking at matters, was knocked out. At any rate he lay down for 10 seconds, but Manager Fred A. Stewart said it was no contest.
