After a sluggish opening Murray picked up the pace with a greater variety of punches. As the fight wore on, Meager was forced to take some brutal punishment. In the third round, a flurry of punches landed by Murray opened a cut above both eyes of Meager. It was a series of crushing hooks to the head that brought Meager to his knees in the fifth round and forced the referee to put an end to the fight.
