Williams was deducted a point in the 2nd round for low blows.
Williams received two standing eight counts in the 3rd round when he stumbled into the ropes and was counted in the 4th round after a slip. He was deducted a point in the 5th round for hitting after the break.
Airich was counted in the 5th round when he lost his balance after stepping besides the canvas.
The 6th round stopped prematurely with 1:41 to go after Airich was knocked down when the bell was rung by Airich's promoter Ahmet Öner.
The towel was thrown in the ring in 7th round, ending the bout. But it wasn't Airich's corner who threw the towel (as required under Spain boxing regulations) it was the promoter, Ahmet Öner.
A complaint by Williams prompted the British Boxing Board of Control to look into the circumstances of the fight. Williams survived three eight counts to win the bout by seventh round TKO, but claimed the odds were unfairly stacked against him, citing multiple point deductions by referee Alfredo Garcia Perez, as well as the bell inexplicably ringing midway through round six to end the round early when Williams had Airich in trouble.
