Promoter George Dingley, first arranged this contest for the world's title, but the British Boxing Board of Control said that they would not recognize it as such. The contest was arranged after many difficulties with the weights set at 112 1/4 pounds." -Ring Magazine, September 1937 issue

    • Lynch showed up for the weigh-in 30 ounces above the stipulated weight and was given one hour to shed the weight. Failing to show up in the stipulated time Lynch had to pay a forfeit of 150 Pounds British Sterling.
