From the Sport palace in Lviv, Ukraine, Andreas Kotelnik succcessfully defended his WBA Light Welterweight Title for the first time with a unanimous decision over challenger Norio Kimura, the Japanese Welterweight champion. Kimura had won thirteen Japanese Light Welterweight title bouts going back to 2004, and had not lost since March 2002, going back six and a half years. However, Kimura this was the first time that Kimura had fought outside his native Japan in 42 pro bouts.
