"No. 1 contender for the junior welterweight championship of the world, Bruno Arcari, Italy, retained his ranking by stopping Argentinian Enrique Jana in the 9th. Georges Gondre, France, called a halt when the South American's eyes began to blow up. The end came as a surprise, for both were swinging punches and appeared set for more rounds of boxing. Arcari often made Jana miss and then countered with hooks and uppercuts. Bruno's right eye was cut in round five but it proved no handicap." -Ring Magazine, October, 1971 issue
