- Referee: Nello Martinelli
European middleweight champion Laszlo Papp of Hungary, boxing on an Austrian license, was behind on points when he landed a tremendous right swing behind the ear of 38 year old Dane Christian Christensen after 1:40 in the 4th round. Christensen went down on his knees, tried to rise at six but collapsed faced down. Christensen had cut Papp's eyebrow in the first. From a classic stance The Dane had danced and scored with long left jabs to the face of the Hungarian 3 time Olympic champion. Papp was making his 5th defense of his pro title since winning it from the same Christensen in 1962.
Legendary Swedish sports journalist and TV- presenter Tommy Engstrand wrote for Dagens Nyheter from Copenhagen: " The Laszlo Papp we saw tonight had lost most of his former aggressiveness. He looked stiff and the famous swings who used to come out from his massive shoulders have no longer the well- oiled and frictionless quality they had. Honours to Christensen who made such a beautiful fight. "
Attendance: 6000 in Forum, Copenhagen.
