Jose Torres 175 lbs beat Bob Dunlop 174 lbs by TKO at 2:53 in round 6 of 10
- Date: 1968-04-01
- Location: Sydney Stadium, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia
- Referee: Vic Patrick
"It took him quite a while to get started, but Jose Torres has finally begun his comeback campaign. Torres, the former light heavyweight champion, scored a 6th round TKO over British Empire champion Bobby Dunlop Monday night in his first ring appearance since losing a rematch with champion Dick Tiger last May. Torres, despite his long layoff, looked in superb condition, rocking his Australian opponent with vicious body blows from the 2nd round until the finish. Torres, 175, caught Dunlop with a tremendous right to the jaw in the 5th round, causing his foe to hit the canvas after lurching across the ring. Dunlop, 173 1/2, was saved by the bell from being counted out but Torres quickly ended the bout in the following round when Dunlop, bleeding over both eyes, signaled the referee he had enough." -United Press International
