Summary
From the opening bell, both fighters met in the center of the ring and traded punches. Southpaw Brähmer tried working from the outside in round two. But both fighters were back at it, landing big shots in round three and even more heavy leather was exchanged in round four, Brähmer's best round of the fight. Garay came back in the fifth round as both fighters continued to exchange. The sixth definitely went to Garay, who was clearly busier, while Brähmer seemed to be wearing down. Just a brutal war in the trenches as the bout progressed. Garay was simply quicker and outworked Brähmer, although Brähmer was connecting with hard shots also. The challenger was clearly slowing down entering the championship rounds as Garay pulled away on the scorecards. The hard-punching Brähmer spent the last round desperately attempting to land a big shot to end it, but Garay never let him have that opportunity.
