Bout Summary
In the main event of a fight card held at Bördelandhalle Arena in Magdeburg, Germany, Hungarian Karoly 'Hitter' Balzsay won his twentieth consecutive bout and the WBO Super Middleweight title in an upset over 34-0 WBO champion Denis Inkin in a battle for the title previously held by Welshman Joe Calzaghe. Balzsay, now 20-0 with 14 KO's, a southpaw, exchanged combinations and counters in center ring with Inkin, now 34-1 with 24 KO's, who was winning after eight rounds but found his southpaw opponent somewhat hard to hit. Balzsay rallied to win rounds 9, 10, 11 and 12 as he landed more often as Inkin faded, and clearly won the fight, though it was close.
