"Spain's Jose Legra, using his superior boxing skill, held off a determined challenge from Scotland's Evan Armstrong Tuesday night to retain his European featherweight title on a 15 round decision. The fight was not the 'walkover' Legra predicted even though he earned a unanimous decision from the referee and two judges. The Cuban-born champion found the dour Scotsman a formidable opponent who gave him no respite. Armstrong lived up to his reputation for determination and never stopped being the aggressor. Legra said afterwards he was confident of victory after the 11th round, when he cut Armstrong's right eyebrow, but he put in a strong late finish to make sure of the verdict." -United Press International
