"Carl (Bobo) Olson of Honolulu outboxed and outpunched Robert Villemain of Paris tonight to win a split decision in a 10 round bout billed as an elimination round for the middleweight contenders. The bout started slow, but Olson took the lead in the middle of the 1st round, landing several solid blows and opening a bad cut over Villemain's left eye. In the 3rd, Villemain switched his style and began charging, but Olson deftly fended him off and continued a boxing and punching lesson." -Associated Press
