Rodolfo Casanova 128 lbs beat Petey Hayes 126 lbs by TKO in round 4 of 10

  • Date: 1936-09-03
  • Location: Madison Square Garden, New York, New York, USA
  • Referee: Young Otto

"Rodolfo (Baby) Casanova, 128, Mexican featherweight champion, scored a sensational TKO victory over Petey Hayes, 126, New York featherweight, in the 4th round of a 10-round match. Casanova floored Hayes twice in the 1st round with vicious lefts, for six and nine counts. The bout was stopped with only two seconds to go in the 4th as Hayes reeled helplessly under the Mexican's two-fisted attack. Although badly beaten, Hayes slugged toe to toe with Casanova most of the way. The Mexican packed the harder wallop, however, and punished his rival from the start." -Associated Press
