"Switch-hitting Kid Anahuac, 127, Mexico City, completely outclassed Dwight Hawkins, 122, Thursday night in scoring a 7th round TKO in the 10 round main event at Olympic Auditorium. The bout was stopped after 2:27 of the 7th by referee John Thomas, who ruled it a knockout although there were no knockdowns. Anahuac, a veteran of 40 professional fights, was just too much for the 19 year old Hawkins, whose biggest asset is the good punch with which he has KO'd 12 of the 17 opponents he's faced." -United Press
