"Thompson knocked Barro down in the 2nd round with a short left hook and though Barro gave some spirited resistance, his punching power was nowhere near that of Thompson, nor did the Filipino have the Australian's variety. It was a left hook which started the Filipino's downfall. Thompson caught him with the punch midway through the 6th and as Barro tried to catch his breath, Thompson thumped two rapid rights to Barro's chin to send him to his knees. Barro took the advice of his corner and waited for the count." -United Press International
