"Australian light welterweight Hector Thompson scored an easy victory over Mexican-based Californian Raul Montoya in a 10 round bout tonight. Thompson hit Montoya at will but at no time did the Mexican appear likely to go down. Even when distressed, Montoya remained alert enough to slide away from Thompson. Montoya frequently switched from an orthodox to southpaw stance and though seemingly unset, showed surprising reflexes in evading some of Thompson's best punches. A crowd of about 3,000 witnessed the one-sided fight." -United Press International
