Frank Borrington vs. Jack Haines
Frank Borrington beat Jack Haines by KO in round 3 of 10
- Date: 1933-07-22
- Location: Rugby Ground, Leicester, Leicestershire, United Kingdom
The much anticipated bout between Frank Borrington (Derby) and Jack Haines (Leicester) ended suddenly in the third of a scheduled ten roudn contest when Haines was knocked out by Borrington. Haines seemed to be the more stylish boxer in the first two rounds, using his left well, and scoring freely to the body. Borrington, however, was the agressor in the third round and connected heavily to Haines' jaw. He repeated the blow a few seconds later, and dropped Haines for 'eight'. Haines looked very weak when he rose, but Borrington went in again to land heavily with both hands, and again sent Haines to the boards with a hard right to the stomach, this time for the full count. It was a disappointing ending to a contest which had been long awaited.
