In a preliminary four round bout on the Maddalone-Baker VIP dinner and show fight card held at Russo's on the Bay catering hall by Joe DeGuardia's Star Productions, in a battle of unbeaten Junior Middleweights, Brownsville Brooklyn New York's Anthony Irons won a majority four round decision over Rashad 'the tank' Bogar of Newark, New Jersey.
Irons, now 2-0-2 with 1 kayo, took the fight on two weeks notice against Bogar, now 2-1 with 1 kayo. The first round appeared even, but Bogar pushed Irons to the canvas and made a bad impression as a result. Bogar appeared more aggressive throwing single jabs in rounds two and three, but the rounds were close. Irons came back and was the more aggressive of the two fighters in round 4 and won the round on the scorecards and the bout here, throwing combinations with Bogar covering on the ropes just trying to survive the round.
