Bout Summary

Victor Emilio Ramirez vs. Marco Huck (poster).jpg

Marco Huck, a Serb fighting out of Bielefeld, Germany, won the WBO Cruiserweight title with a unanimous decision over defending champion Victor Emilio Ramirez of Buenos Aires, Argentina. Huck, 26-1 with 20 kayos, had a reach advantage and started fast, landing many rapid combinations to win the first two rounds. Ramirez, now 15-2 with 12 kayos, found his rhythm in the third and fourth, throwing left and right hook power shots that rattled Huck. The fifth through the eighth rounds were too close to call, with Ramirez continuing nonstop with power shots and Huck countering with jab combinations and an occasional low blow. As Ramirez' pace slowed, Huck won the ninth, tenth, and eleventh and the bout with continuous combinations, though Ramirez was still trying hard he not was landing as often as before. In the twelfth and final round, both fighters traded offensive power shot bombs for the final three minutes in an attempt to score the knockout and take the bout out of the judges' hands. Midway through the twelfth, Huck finally had a point taken away from the referee as he was still throwing low blows. Ramirez loudly disapproved of Huck claiming victory when the final bell sounded, and disagreed with this verdict. Both fighters appeared in excellent condition, and neither fighter was hurt or in trouble at any time. Ramirez won the title in Germany with a decision over Alexander Alexeev earlier in 2009.
