  • "World bantamweight champion Alphonse Halimi last night outpointed Peter Keenan, British Empire titleholder, in a 10-round non-title bout at the Sports Palace. Halimi scored the only knockdown when he floored Keenan in the 7th with a right to the jaw. The Scotsman went down, hanging onto Halimi's legs. He was on his feet at the count of two, but did not move toward Halimi until the count reached five. In the 10th round, Halimi landed a right which opened a wound on Keenan's left eyebrow. Blood was flowing freely as the fight ended. Halimi easily was ahead from the 2nd round on. Keenan spent most of his time back-tracking and seemed to have no stomach for mixing it up with the Algerian world champion. The crowd of 10,000 booed and whistled at Keenan for these tactics." -Associated Press
