Notes
In a close bout with a wild finish, WBO light heavyweight champion Zsolt Erdei moved up in weight and won the WBC cruiserweight title with a twelve round majority decision over Giocobbe Fragomeni. By the cards, the fight was decided on the inside, with Fragomeni needing to win only one more round to earn a draw, but unable to do so. Erdei started fast, circling throwing punches in bunches of five or more, frustrating Fragomeni, whose punches were slow and wide, and either were picked off or missed the target. With each round, Fragomeni's left eye became more swollen. By round six, Fragomeni changed strategy and fought a different fight on the inside, seeking to land any way he could, and did better, but got hit with hard counterjabs that eventually made both Fragomeni's eyes swell. Still Fragomeni came forward and won the seventh and eighth, as Erdei began to tire and fought backing up. Erdei came back and won the ninth and tenth landing often, then Fragomeni came back in the eleventh and twelfth, with both men fighting furiously on the inside and trading thunder bombs at the end of round twelve with everything they had left in the tank. With this win, Erdei is 31-0, 17 KOs. Fragomeni fell to 26-2-1 10 KOs.
