Rafal Jackiewicz 147 lbs beat Delvin Rodriguez 147 lbs by UD in round 12 of 12

In an IBF welterweight title eliminator, Rafal Jackiewicz, the European welterweight champion, won his twentieth bout in a row and moved a step closer to an IBF world title shot with a unanimous decision over Delvin Rodriguez of Danbury, Connecticut, after a bout which appeared tough to score, but may have been somewhat influenced by the loud pro-Jackiewicz crowd. Rodriguez was the more aggressive of the two boxers, throwing more, but missing alot. Jackiewicz threw fewer punches, but did better when he did, highly effective with good jabs that snapped Rodriguez' head back frequently all night. Rodriguez was busier, though, and eventually a 1-2 jab combination on the nose of Jackiewicz in round six did damage, leading to a knockdown. Rodriguez had the majority of the round left to finish Jackiewicz, who was in serious trouble and looked ready to go, but Rodriguez was unable to put Jackiewicz away. This was an extremely close bout. There was a strong argument to score the bout for either fighter, depending on style. The key factor proved to be Rodriguez was inaccurate with most of the punches he threw, while Jackiewicz punched less but was more accurate with what he threw, landing more often, and appeared to win the decision on this point.
