"European junior welterweight champion Rene Roque, France, lost his crown as had been expected to Pedro Carrasco, Spain, at the Madrid Sportpalast. Former European lightweight king, Carrasco had the support of all three officials. Some of the tougher critics gave Roque only one round and those in a generous mood gave the Frenchman two rounds with two even. Roque's eyebrow was cut in round three and his lip was split in the 4th. Carrasco also suffered a cut over his right eye from a left hander in the 8th." -Ring Magazine, September 1971 issue
