"Eddie Booker of San Francisco defeated Harry Matthews of Emmett, Idaho, by a TKO at Coliseum Bowl last night when referee Frankie Brown halted the bout in the 5th round after Matthews had suffered a terrific body beating. Matthews, who went in at 163 to Booker's 165, fought one good round - the 2nd - winning it with a solid left, which shook Booker. Booker was in no trouble, however, either then or later as he concentrated everything into a punishing body attack." -United Press
