"Alexis Arguello from Nicaragua, stopped Mexico's Salvador Torres in the 3rd round of their scheduled 15 rounder to retain his WBA featherweight title Saturday night at the Forum. Alexis dropped his challenger with a short chopping right. Torres tried to get up at the count of five, but fell back to the canvas to be counted out 1:25 into the round. The Mexican challenger had won the first two rounds with an aggressive two-fisted attack and opened a small cut over the right eye of the champion. At the start of the 3rd, alexis took control of the fight with hammering right-left combinations to Torres' head. Torres was back-pedaling toward a neutral corner when Alexis landed a short right to end the fight." -Pasadena Star-News
