"Welterweight Billy Graham threw everything he had at Carmen Basilio and had him gashed and bleeding tonight to take an unanimous decision in the Chicago Stadium. The New York Irishman finished the fight without a mark, but Basilio, of Canastota, N.Y., bled from both eyebrows, the forehead and the mouth and nose. Basilio, though beaten, lived up to his billing as a comer. He took all Graham could throw and dished out some good powerful rights of his own. The cool face of Graham surprisingly took Basilio's punches without showing a sign of them." -United Press
