"Charley Burley, Pittsburgh, the NBA's No. 1 challenger for Henry Armstrong's welterweight championship, was beaten tonight in a hard-fought 10 round battle by war-torn Jimmy Leto of New York. Leto was too fast for Burley, who lost his third decision in 29 fights. The judges disagreed, but referee Red Robinson raised Leto's hand. Leto used a stinging left to best advantage, while Burley seemed slowed down by a five month layoff and was far behind in the early rounds. There were no knockdowns." -Associated Press
