“The swarthy Zannelli did most of the leading and stalked his opponent all the way, but Dauthuille used a darting left jab to keep his opponent at a safe distance, and counterpunched beautifully to pile up points. There was only one knockdown in the fight, in the seventh round when the Frenchman crossed a right to Zannelli’s chin, which sent the Providence Bulldog backwards to his haunches. Referee Tommy Sullivan motioned Zannelli to take the automatic eight-count, and he bounced to his feet apparently not hurt too much by the blow.”
