"World junior welterweight champion Antonio 'Kid Pambele' Cervantes of Columbia kept his title Saturday night, knocking out Chang Kil Lee of South Korea in the 6th round of their 15-round match. Cervantes, 140, began by raining lefts and rights on his challenger. Lee, 139, tried to no avail to dodge the ferocious attacks which often put him on the ropes. After the 1st round, Lee's right eye appeared slightly swollen. Despite the punishment Cervantes handed him, Lee showed great endurance and stamina. He backed off constantly to avoid punches, always trying to counter-punch but wasn't too successful. Cervantes' knockout punch caused some confusion among spectators because Lee fell to the canvas just as the bell sounded ending the 6th round. However, according to title fight rules, a boxer can't be saved by the bell except in the final round. Venezuelan referee Isidro Rodriguez completed the count of ten and declared the Columbian the victor to a roar of approval from 19,500 local fans who watched the bout." -Pacific Stars and Stripes
