Ezzard Charles 173 lbs beat Archie Moore 172 lbs by MD in round 10 of 10

The Cincinnati Enquirer described this as a battle of infighting, and felt it was a close bout, with them favoring Charles 5-4-1 in rounds. Charles was cut over his already swollen left eye in the 9th round.

"Charles floored Moore for nine in the seventh (from a left hook to the body) and slowed him to a walk the rest of the way." (AP)
