"Roberto Duran, Panama, went through five rounds of a give-and-take slugging contest against Lloyd Marshall of New Jersey before he could score a 6th round TKO at Nuevo Panama Coliseum. Referee 'Mango' Lopez halted the bout at 1:37 after Marshall had been floored for the second time in the round. Both fighters exchanged hard punches in the first three rounds. While Duran was shooting at his opponent's head, Marshall concentrated his counter-attack to the body. In the 4th, Marshall charged his opponent with heavy body punches and at the end of the round Duran showed signs of being hurt when he missed his corner and was led back to it by referee Lopez. In the 5th, Marshall changed his tactics and staggered Duran with a hard right to the jaw. However, Duran came back with a couple of rights to the body. Marshall had been hurt by a right to the head and had to be led to his corner by the referee. In the 6th round, Duran charged Marshall in his corner and decked him. He was on his feet with the count halfway as he received the 8-count, only to be sent to the canvas again from a right to his midsection and a short left hook to the chin. Marshall was in bad shape and Lopez immediately halted the fight." -Ring Magazine, November 1971 issue
