Børge Krogh vs. Jim (Spike) McCormack
Borge Krogh lost to Jim 'Spike' McCormack by TKO in round 8 of 10
- Date: 1968-05-03
- Location: K.B. Hallen, Copenhagen, Denmark
- Referee: Svend Aage Christensen
Borge Krogh, Danish top European contender in lightweight, was ahead on points against the 93- fight veteran Jim ( Spike ) McCormack of Belfast, when a clash of heads made a deep cut in his forehead. Many felt Krogh had gone forward too eager to finish the fight when the clash occured. The ring doctor stopped the fight.
The paper Berlingske Tidende wrote:
" Spike McCormack showed no pity for his opponent. When he saw the blood pour down Krogh' s face, he jumped for joy and raised his arms victoriuosly long before the referee had asked about the ring doctor's opinion. The scene didn't look good, but business is, as the say, business. "
Trivia: Two years later Krogh faced another McCormack, namely Pat. The Irishman stopped Krogh on cuts, repeating the feat later that year with another stoppage.
