Gene Fullmer 160 lbs beat Spider Webb 158 lbs by UD in round 15 of 15

"Champion Gene Fullmer again beat Ellsworth (Spider) Webb tonight with a wild-hooking attack for a unanimous 15 round decision in their fight for the NBA version of the middleweight crown in the fieldhouse of Utah State University. Fullmer's plunging, bludgeoning attack had Webb's knees wobbly in the 7th and 15th rounds, but he could not put the lanky challenger from Chicago down once. Webb slipped to the canvas in the 1st and 10th, but were not knockdowns. Fullmer went to the floor twice, but referee Ken Shulsen ruled that both were slips. However, Gene's descent in the 4th looked like a legitimate knockdown from a right to the chin. Fullmer suffered slight cuts on both brows and a nick under his lower lip." -United Press International
