Dorin Spivey versus Samuel Kotey Nequaye NABA Lightweight Title Bout

Lightweight prospect Samuel Kotey Neequaye of Ghana, 21-0 and ten years younger than the aging 40 year old Dorin Spivey, easily outworked and outpointed him over ten rounds to win the WBA North American Boxing Association Lightweight title Spivey had held since 2009. The hard working Spivey, in his third NABA title defense and still world ranked, had held out hope of an outside shot at the WBA World Lightweight title, but had broken with his Atlantic City promoter Diane Lee Fischer after turning down a WBA world title eliminator bout opportunity which was offered him earlier in 2013. Spivey, always in top condition and nearing the end of his career, had slower reflexes at this point, but gave a good accounting of himself as he was not hurt in the ten rounder. One judge gave Samuel Neequaye eight rounds, a convincing win over a contender.
