"Kid Gavilan turned the tables on Billy Graham of New York by winning a majority 10 round decision at MSG. The 24 year old Cuban was much faster and smarter than in their February bout. His left hook was snapping with precision and accuracy and his right bolo uppercuts were finding his target. He spoiled Graham's ring strategy by forcing the New Yorker to do at least half the leading. In February Gavilan made the mistake of forcing the fight in every round and letting Billy concentrate on countering, at which he is most adept." -United Press
- Both the UP and AP unofficially scored the bout 6-4 in favor of Gavilan.
