"Lloyd Marshall knocked out Jack 'Logger' Hibbard in three rounds at the Olympic Arena in Reno Friday night. Marshall had little trouble outboxing the rough lumberjack. The first round was devoted to cautious sparring until Marshall flashed a lightning-like left hook to the jaw which lifted Hibbard completely off the floor. Jack climbed up after an eight-count and lasted out the round. In the 2nd frame Marshall coasted but opened up in the 3rd. He jabbed Hibbard groggy with quick left jabs, then hooked a left to the jaw to score a knockdown. The Lumberjack was helpless but gritty as he staggered into deadly rights. Down for the 4th time, Hibbard was deemed 'out' by the referee." -Nevada State Journal

• Marshall substituted for Babe Risko, whom he stopped in five rounds on a cut two nights earlier in Sacramento.
