"George Araujo of Providence, R.I., ended a four month absence from the ring last night and pounded a out a unanimous 10-round decision over Tommy Tibbs of Boston at the Boston Arena. Araujo depended almost entirely on a snapping left jab and a stiff left hook to outpoint the willing but overmatched Tibbs. Tibbs, who gave away four pounds to Araujo, landed with some good two-fisted flurries, especially to the body, but his blows didn't have the power to halt Araujo. Araujo kept stalking in, peppering Tibbs with that left to pile up the points. Araujo showed some ring rustiness in the first two rounds, but stepped up his attack as his timing improved. There were no knockdowns." -Associated Press
- This win gained Araujo a spot on the December 11th all-star card at Boston Garden against Jackie Blair.
