"World flyweight champion Salvatore Burruni of Italy was outpointed Saturday night in a 10 round match by Argentine flyweight champ Horacio Accavallo. The decision was unanimous. It was a non-title bout but 3rd ranked Accavallo hoped to get a world championship fight if he made a good showing. Accavallo was on top during the first two rounds. A straight right to the chin sent Burruni to the canvas and the world champion took an eight-count. Accavallo tried to press his attack in the 3rd round but Burruni returned a barrage of blows to the body. The Italian kept trying to slow down Accavallo by hitting in his lower section and he seemed to be getting his aim in the 6th round. But the Argentine came out strong in the 7th when he hurt Burruni on his left eye. Although Accavallo tired in the 6th and 7th rounds, he came out strongly in the 9th and 10th when he attacked Burruni with all his might." -Associated Press
